Talking Heads, Fear Of Music, Sire records, 1979
After several months of rehearsing in the loft of Chris Frantz (drums) and Tina Weymouth (bass), Talking Heads record their 3rd LP in 2 days, under the direction of Brian Eno. The result is an album full of unconventional rhythms that totally captures the mood of New York in 1979.
This album is considered by many critics to be the best thing that Talking Heads ever made. NME, Melody Maker as well as the L.A. Times hailed the album as the Best Album of 1979.
Aside from classics like I Zimbra and Life During Wartime, the album also contains the marvelous Heaven, one of Talking Heads' most-covered songs.
The impact of Talking Heads (and Fear of Music in particular) upon bands like Radiohead, TV On The Radio, Dirty Projectors, Yeasayer, etc... is not to be underestimated, so that makes this gem from ’79 the ideal warmer-up for the Yeasayer concert later in the evening.
The listening-session will be introduced by tbc.
