Along on the swelling wave of BBC – Sound Of 2015
A shared penchant for music, surfing and snowboarding. Those were the main ingredients for an Australian and three Brits to establish Sunset Sons. And the current in the direction of success soon carried them further… They rightly got mentioned on the longlist of BBC – Sound Of 2015, were allowed along on the tour bus of Imagine Dragons (Vorst Nationaal - 24/10) and caused quite a few waves in the immense YouTube ocean with singles ‘She Wants’, ‘Remember’ and their latest ‘On The Road’. As far as sound and genre, they surf on the same indie-pop/rock wave as the likes of Circa Waves and Coasts (regarding band names too, apparently) and they sound like the little brothers of Kings Of Leon and The Killers.
After three EPs, the surfer boys are ready for the most important dive in their musical career: a debut album, which they are currently completing in the Southern French surf area Hossegor. “We couldn’t write the songs we do living in, say, London” is Sunset Sons’ logical explanation. Now, that’s what we call making the best of a necessary evil!
