The Eastpak Antidote Tour feat. Sum 41 + The Black Pacific + The Riverboat Gamblers + Veara
Is everyone ready for the Belgian leg of the sixth Eastpak Antidote tour? Our headliners this time are none other than the Canadian punk rockers SUM 41 with, in their wake, the singer/songwriter from Pennywise, Jim Lindberg’s latest musical adventure THE BLACK PACIFIC, rock ’n’ rollers THE RIVERBOAT GAMBLERS and Georgian pop-punks VEARA.
Sum 41 need no introduction. They, along with that other numbers-and-letters band Blink 182, were responsible for punk rock gatecrashing the hit parades. Hits like ‘Still Waiting’, ‘Fat Lip’, ‘In Too Deep’ and ‘The Hell Song’ were all huge hits. A new album is anticipated for early 2011.
The Black Pacific, the new band of former Pennywise singer Jim Lindberg, are also in attendance. In 2009, Lindberg left the band with whom he had sold four million records. He did not quit punk rock, but decided to blaze new trails with a fresh rhythm section. Far guitarist Shaun Lopez (Deftones, Will Haven) produced their untitled debut, which will be released on 14 September via SideOneDummy/Suburban.
The Riverboat Gamblers march into battle bearing their ‘Underneath The Owl’. Anyone who is familiar with the stage antics of singer Mike Wiebe knows that ‘an energetic show’ is putting it mildly.
This year’s discovery at Eastpak Antidote tour is without a doubt the mosh-pop charm of opening act Veara. Their ‘What We Left behind’ album is out on Epitaph and sounds like a cocktail of razor-sharp punk riffs and catchy pop tunes. They have previously toured with A Day To Remember, who are clearly an influence.
