She turns the violin into the soul of her funk, hip-hop, African rhythms' - LA Times
Violinist, singer, and producer Brittney Parks - alias Sudan Archives - is one of the most remarkable musicians of the moment. At the age of 19 she swapped her hometown Cincinnati for Los Angeles, where she found her own sound.
Her debut EP ‘Sudan Archives’ was released two years ago. On this first EP the singer combined her African influenced violin style with hip-hop and R&B elements. EP number two arrived a year later: ‘Sink’, on which she immersed her characteristic violin style in more experimental productions. Both EPs received good reviews from The Guardian, Pitchfork and The New York Times, amongst others.
Now, she has completed her debut album and ‘Confessions’ is the first single from it. Just as her two previous EPs, her debut is released via leading label Stones Throw
