Creative lynchpin of Porcupine Tree goes solo again
British band Porcupine Tree is mainly the brainchild of its frontman and creative lynchpin Steven Wilson. The man proves he's still up for it with a second solo album entitled ‘Grace For Drowning’. It's an ambitious double disc that verifies his current position as one of progressive rock's flag bearers - where he combines a contemporary sound (with a healthy ear for electronica) with long drawn out 70's elements.
Jack-of-all-trades, Wilson's talent hasn't gone unnoticed as is proven by his collusion with artists as diverse as Opeth, Anja Garbarek, Yoko Ono and Anathema... and, what's more, he's also worked (under the pseudonym Bass Communion) with Belgian Dirk Serries from Vidna Obmana in the ambient & drone project Continuum.
‘This is listening for the advanced, even though jack-of-all-trades Steven Wilson has made his sound accessible’. (www.muziek.nl)
