Stef Kamil Carlens presents: 'Stuck In The Status Quo'
‘Stuck In The Status Quo’ – the brand new Stef Kamil Carlens album to appear this spring – is an absolute return to the pure musical glory that we’re familiar with from SKC’s Zita Swoon oeuvre. Not that the enigmatic frontman of musical collective Zita Swoon Group ever wavered from the musical path. But, in recent years, his focus was mainly upon (lauded) dance/theatre performances like ‘Nothing That Is Everything’ or, more recently, ‘The Ballad Of Erol Klof’.
With ‘Stuck In The Status Quo’ – the first album to be released under his own name – Carlens returns to the art of songwriting. We had the honour of already listening to the album and we heard wonderful songs that only Carlens could have flow from his pen. Narrative lyrics, packaged in subtle instrumentation, that instantly carry you away to the rich imaginary world of Stef Kamil Carlens.
The first single is to be released mid-January: ‘The Journey Will Be Long’. Live, Carlens – together with a five member band – presents both songs from the brand new ’Stuck In The Status Quo’ and also work from his now richly-filled repertoire.
