Austrian chanteuse with hypnotic voice and exquisite piano playing.
“'Lovetune For Vacuum' was one of the finest albums of ‘09 … Her piano style is staggeringly rich: her voice glides effortlessly from nagging Cat Power to ethereal Dead Can Dance-heights and back.” (Humo)
“One of the most idiosyncratic debuts of recent years. Soap&Skin would seem to hail from a parallel pop-universe that brought us previous greats like Kate Bush and Antony & The Johnsons.” (De Volkskrant)
All was quiet for a while last year around Soap&Skin or: the alter-ego of young Austrian Anja Plaschg. Debut ‘Lovetune For Vacuum’ already dates from ’09 but her concert in AB in ’10 – that, due to demand, moved from the AB Box to the bigger AB Flex – is still hanging in the air. In the meantime she could be heard on the latest Apparat album ‘The Devil’s Walk’ and she acted in the film ‘Stillleben’. February 2012 will see the release of her new work in the form of a ‘maximum EP’.
Support-act will be A Thousand Fuegos. We don't know much about this Austrian. He was invited by Soap&Skin and likes to keep his electronica marbled pop to 98bpm. He cites Arthur Russell, hitney wouston (sic), Alan Vega, Prince, Bill Callahan and Agent Cooper as influences.
