Sincere americana chanson feat. Courtney Love & Sharon Tate
Simone, one of The Felice Brothers. But finally entirely solo too, with his 'Team Love': a first real, very compelling solo-CD on V2.
Apparently just became a father and now also 'delivering' 'this album, the one I've had buried away, somewhere in my weird heart.' You can also take that last bit literally, as Simone Felice just recently underwent an open hart operation too.
But there is hope. Like in the driving 'You And I Belong' (feat. Mumford & Sons), a first single from 'Team Love'. The CD is also adorned by the songs 'Courtney Love' and 'Sharon Tate'. Sorry for any possible confusion.
We already received the British industry comments with the CD:
Q: 'takes flight, indulges with lavish arrangement and broadens his palette...worth revelling in.'
Mojo: 'withstands most Levon Helm comparisons.' They then refer to the fact that Simone was the drummer of The Felice Brothers, who sometimes seemed very much like The Band. That was where the late Levon Helm was an amazing singer and drummer and composer. Now there's a sincere 'Requiem For Levon' on Simone Felice's website too.
In the meantime the first CD reviews have appeared here:
De Morgen: 'een prachtige folkplaat, maar dan in de erg ruime betekenis van het woord: denk Springsteen’s Nebraska met een stukje zwarte magie uit Dark Side Of The Moon.... We krijgen dus folk noir voorgeschoteld, maar evengoed country en zelfs gospel...'
FocusVif had a bit of a problem with that, but even so: 'L’ensemble constitue un disque à la fois irritant et attachant, splendide et exagéré, plein de vie donc...'
Felice!
