Selah Sue, our 2009 artiest-in-residence, is currently working very hard on her debut album. She has now accumulated quite a lot of live experience, though solo and to support an EP that she was able to record in the ABstudio. You surely know the hit 'Black Part Love' from that period. In the meantime, she's now signed a record deal with prestigious French record company Because and, to highlight the release of her first single on that label, Selah Sue will soon play her first concerts with a live band: April 2010 at Karma Hotel in Oostende, for our neighbours from the Botanique, and on Friday 16 April in the ABClub.
Selah Sue is that singer-songwriter from Leuven who was discovered by Milow and meanwhile also shares a manager with Gabriel Rios. No great surprise, as those who have already seen her perform know that she is one of Belgium's big promising talents. "I write like a singer-songwriter but prefer to sing 'black music'. Soul or blues or ska or ragga or drum'n'bass. Rhythm and colour". Now foreign countries are completely falling for this capable young lady too, with a visit to the immensely popular French TV-show Taratata as cherry on top... and where she even presented a duet with Moby.
We are curious to hear that new work and that new live band!
