Traditional American music for a new generation.
Finally back, both of them, after that memorable ABConcert in October 2005. Finally releasing a new CD too: 'Bright Examples' is the fully-fledged successor to 'Exploration', after 'Ex Tempore' (that solo by Johnny) and 'Folksong' (that live CD-DVD recording). By the way, this time we expect them with band!
'Bright Examples' (here via Munich) was recorded by Andy Cabic and other members of Vetiver, aside the likes of Mark 'Jayhawks' Olson and Neal Casal too, and the sound is clearly 'more atmospheric or psychedelic, sort of dreamy but colorful.'
We already noted for their previous visit: Their site says everything: this is clearly a duo. A cast-iron American singer-songwriter duo with a famous name (yep: Guthrie - Sarah Lee is the daughter of Arlo and granddaughter of Woody) and a more complicated name (Irion, not Iron – practise a little). Humo: '...tears in the eyes at such vocal splendour... traditional American music for a new generation is what it is... such playing pleasure... fine album...' Brussel Deze Week wrote: 'their vocal harmony is compared by connoisseurs with what we've heard in the past from other illustrious couples like Carly Simon and James Taylor, Nicolette Larson and Neil Young or even Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. You can also add Johnny Cash and June Carter to the row too.' Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion: utmost close harmony singer-songwriter must!
