Vocally impressive and effervescent young talent
Sarah Ferri is blessed with an impressive voice and and a fantastic live reputation.
She's had a sorely need boost since that AB asked her to become an Artiest in Residence. In other words, she hasn't been sitting around but rather grasped this opportunity with both hands.
On her debut album “Ferritales” she's bundled unique creative songs, sometimes with a dark fairy-tale edge, sometimes with a serious portion of gipsy jazz swing or bossa nova.
Sarah’s music also reflects the composition of her blood: the contrast between the ‘Mysterious North’ (Belgian mother) and the ‘Fiery South’ (Italian father) forms the foundation of songs that sometimes remind you of the blatant honesty of the seventies.
Sarah Ferri has been working manically on that debut album over the last few months, with none less than Koen Gisen (An Pierlé & The White Velvet) as ideal producer for the unique sound she wants to capture.
What's more, Sarah Ferri can count on the support of these fantastic musicians:
Jan Oelbrandt (guitar) - Jonathan Callens (drums) - Steven Van Holsbeeck (double bass)
Sofia Ferri en Tine Roelens - Emmanuelle Schotsaert - Jessie Willemse (backing vocals)
She has meanwhile also found the right partners behind the scenes - to make the great leap forwards without delay too – and has already played outstanding support acts for the likes of Caro Emerald (AB), Simply Red (Sportpaleis) and Jools Holland (Bruges and Antwerp).
From under the wings of AB, she already played striking concerts as part of Broodje Brussel-The Music Village, Feest in Brussel at the Grand Place and at the Feeërieën.
Today, with heartfelt pride, we announce the release concert for a debut in which her wonderful swing-jazz songs are released upon the world. Musically and lyrically they navigate effortlessly from exuberant to extremely intimate moods, modest and effervescent.
Sarah Ferri, a true artist, bursting with talent and completely ready for the great leap forwards.
Sarah Ferri in the press:
Radio 1 on her website: "Unmistakable talent, Sarah Ferri. What a voice! We at Radio 1 get all warm and fuzzy from that fine bossa nova rhythm in 'Springair', despite the snow. The song more than fulfils the expectations created by its title. Unpretentious but with heaps of natural presence and charm, she completely won us over in less than two minutes. That's what we call timeless class.”
Sven Van Hees for the selection of On Air on Stubru: "Strongly reminds me of vocalists along the lines of Ane Brun, Emiliana Torrini & Joni Mitchell. Impressive singer, she's 'spot on' in this song, beautiful melody and arrangement, it's interesting from beginning to end. I can't see anyone else doing that. These sorts of songs are made or broken by the singer's ability to stay in tune and Sarah Ferri has no problem there... "
Het Nieuwsblad: "Sarah Ferri, we officially register you amongst the recent tidal wave of countless stage ladies – in golden ink."
De Standaard : “All the insiders tip Sarah Ferri as one of the best promising singers of this year .”
