'Rock rústico' from Extremadura: folk, rumba and flamenco blended with modern urban and electronic sounds
Concert LiveuropeThis is a Liveurope concert, the first European initiative that supports concert venues in promoting emerging musical talent from Europe.
Meet Carlos, Juan and Víctor: the three friends behind Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, originally from the small village of Casas de Don Pedro in Extremadura, Spain. When they returned to their hometown, they decided to start making music together. Their roots form the basis of a sound of their own, blending different influences with raw energy, catchy melodies and a good dose of rock 'n' roll.
Their lyrics tell stories of everyday life: village fiestas, dusty streets, the Guadiana River, friendship, love and the feeling of being caught between two worlds. What does it mean to leave your village behind, only to find yourself longing to return? Their songs are filled with relatable stories, combining nostalgia, rebellion and humour.
All these elements come together on their debut album, Revolá (May 2025). The album tells the story of a generation finding its way between rural and city life, between leaving and returning, and between new dreams and familiar places. With their fresh sound and infectious energy, Sanguijuelas del Guadiana bring their own twist to Spanish rock.
