Sam Sparro supplies instant Happiness at AB
Sam Sparro presented his musical business card four years ago with ‘Black & Gold’. His poppy soul, drenched in dark disco beats, settled itself into radio playlists for weeks on end and thus also into our collective memory. It provided Sparro with a grammy nomination and collaborations with Basement Jaxx and Mark Ronson.
The Aussie scored a huge hit again this summer with ‘Happiness’, in the remix version by Belgian producer The Magician. The summer-hit of 2012, the one that wore a hole in radio, TV and your head, is to be found on Sparro's new second LP ‘Return To Paradise’. The actual album version of ‘Happiness’ exudes a lot more soul, but remains a superhit.
His disco, soul and pop - full of references to Prince and Chaka Khan in the ’80's - got the whole Marquee shaking at Pukkelpop. So make sure your throat and thighs are well-oiled as on 5 November there will be singing, dancing and partying in AB.
The beatmeisters from Leuven's Bodyspasm scored a big hit in ’12 with ‘Twenty Radios’, provided a first-rate remix of Selah Sue’s ‘Raggamuffin’ that ended up being a bonus on her debut ‘Rarities’, and put together an infectious, brand-new version of Sam Sparro’s ‘Yellow Orange Rays’. So things are really happening for the Steeno brothers and there could be a lot more of that… Bodyspasm have gotten together with record label EMI, will soon be releasing red-hot single ‘Something Special - feat. Paris Grey (Inner City)’ upon you and will be coming to provide your dance moves with the appropriate soundtrack as support to Sam Sparro.
