Pumping drum 'n' bass meets soul? That must be Rudimental!
For the uncertain amongst us: the guys from Rudimental still ‘Feel The Love’! After their cancelled AB Club show on May 21, and an excellent StuBru session in Club 69, the four wanted to adorn the AB calender again, as soon as possible. See now, there we are, on October 5. You could already hear that their drum-‘n-bass meets soul-formula is the right one on ‘Not Giving In’ and ‘Feel The Love’, both of which inundated radio stations worldwide, and their latest ‘Waiting All Night’ hits the nail on the head too.
But debut ‘Home’ harbours more than just a portion of radio-friendliness. The foursome experiments with garage, dubstep, soul and grime smothered in a thick, juicy drum ’n bass sauce. They mix old-school instruments (Hammond, Rhodes, bass and all sorts of brass) with digital programming experiments and write songs with killer hooks, sung by the crème de la crème of contemporary pop music, such as Alex Clare, Angel Haze and Emeli Sandé.
Rudimental, with Mark Crown and his trumpet in a starring role, really gets down to business live (check out the video for ‘Feel The Love’ during Club 69 here below) so there's gonna be some exertion happening on the AB dancefloor.
This black soul-pearl, AB artist in residence for the coming year, grew up on gospel, r&b and soul, and will now come move that soul of yours. Armed with a fantastic voice, a Nord-keyboard and two backing singers. Pure, no-frills and honest… An impressive lady who can only add even more colour to the Rudimental party!
