In the slipstream of Girls in Hawaii & BRNS with ‘Mont Royal’
Roscoe from Luik debuted on Pias in 2012 with a fine collection of modest, melancholy indie-pop songs that owe a great deal to The National, Archive and early-Radiohead.
‘Mont Royal’ is the title of the recently released successor to their first issue ‘Cracks’ and once again the five from Roscoe deal in pleasant, catchy songs (and frontman/songsmith Pierre Dumoulin's wistful baritone has quite a lot to do with that). The subtle electronica, added under the influence of excellent producer Luuk Cox (Stromae, Girls in Hawaii), enriches the free-floating sound and dynamic of the songs. It has also provided the guys from Luik with many a review containing pleasing comparisons with the magical Sigur Rós.
