Our best bluesman turns 80 and we must celebrate it!
We get to celebrate living legend Roland Van Campenhout‘s 80th birthday with him. Expect no less than an unforgettable performance that reveals the deepest emotions and pure craftsmanship of his music.
Roland will be surrounded by good folk, such as his regular band The Space Cowboys, but also by loyal allies Teun Verbruggen, Mirko Banovic, Frederik Segers, Nicolas Mortelmans, Nils De Caster and his greatest mate Pieter-Jan De Smet. On top of that, we also welcome such notable guests as BJ Scott (Belgium's best blues voice), Mauro (who, like Roland, needs no surname), bassist Bart Denolf, harmonica virtuoso Steven De Bruyn, guitarist Bruno Fevery, trumpet player Bart Maris and cellist Benjamin Glorieux.
It will be an evening in which blues, folk and rock come together in their most authentic form. With his guitar and his voice, Roland takes you through his life’s work, passions and stories. His musical journey spans decades and has inspired several generations. Even now that he has reached the respectable age of 80, Roland continues to shine with his masterful guitar skills and unrivalled talent.
Watch the tribute made by Marc Didden in the popular cultural program "Ziggurat," when he reached "the blessed age of 50". It was then celebrated with an exhibition and 2 retrospective CDs.
Roland has often played in AB, but this will be a unique and well-deserved tribute to an icon, a celebration of his rich legacy and a moment to come together and enjoy music that touches the soul.
