REWIND: Hooverphonic plays ‘The Magnificent Tree’ - 25th anniversary
This concert belongs to the timeless ◄◄ REWIND series.
◄◄ REWIND
In 2007, AB launched a timeless series: ◄◄ REWIND. Central to this series are Belgian artists who perform 'their classic' in its entirety. Call it a milestone in their career or even more: a key record in Belgian pop music. These are often albums that are - though not exclusively - engraved in the collective memory. Call them anchor points in the Belgian musical landscape. Each “pièce de résistance” is thus brought in its entirety. Integral? Yes, exactly in the order in which the artist wanted to tell his/her story.
HOOVERPHONIC: 'The Magnificent Tree' - 25th anniversary
Coincidence does not exist: on FRIDAY 26 SEPTEMBER 2025, it would be exactly - day to day - 25 years since Hooverphonic's 'The Magnificent Tree' was unleashed on the world. 'The Magnificent Tree' - Hooverphonic's third studio album with Geike Arnaert at the wheel as frontwoman for the first time - was without a doubt a milestone in their oeuvre that also accelerated their international career.
Without a doubt, 'The Magnificent Tree' is Hooverphonic's magnus opus. 'The Magnificent Tree' therefore remains to this day a timeless classic that reflects the band's signature sound: pop pur sang but fiercely injected by trip hop with orchestral elements. Not for nothing was the album on the Ultratop album charts for more than 2 years (!). Moreover, with sales of more than 340,000 copies - with 165 million streams on top - this album is one of the most successful Belgian albums of all time. No less than four successful singles were then plucked from the record: “Mad About You,” “Vinegar & Salt,” “Out of Sight” and “Jackie Cane.
This success also catapulted Hooverphonic to the main stage of Rock Werchter in 2001. Their spot? Just after world star Manu Chao and just before closing (!) Basement Jaxx. Detail: world acts like Queens Of The Stone Age and Tool were on the same main stage a lot earlier that day.
In the spring of 2025 Hooverphonic will tour through Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Turkey and Greece. In other words, the band will be extremely robed to bring “The Magnificent Tree” back to life like a well-oiled machine. This concert belongs to the timeless ◄◄ REWIND series created by AB in 2007.
