Enigmatic American singer-songwriter, back for a full club!?
Her previous ABClub in February 2009 was only announced almost a month in advance. Yet was entirely sold out in no time!
We read in DaMusic at the time: 'With her slightly husky voice, Yamagata immediately succeeds in taking us along to her uncertain world of broken loves and painful relationships... Definitely in the running for Best Performance in the ABclub in 2009.'
So many years later again and there's finally a new CD. 'Chesapeake' is the successor to 'Happenstance' and the (double!) 'Elephants... Teeth Sinking Into Heart.'
This time the recordings were made in, that's right, Chesapeake. That also has something to do with Rachael Yamagata's enigmatic character. Even when she does her very best to sound normal (like on her website), even then the reality always gets distorted.
So she's an exceptionally interesting person. That provides fantastic, mature songs like: 'Elephants’, ‘Sidedish Friend’, ‘Don't’, ‘Accident’, ‘Sunday Afternoon’, ‘Faster’...' Be sure to be quick!
The support-act will be: Oh Burgundy. They were already nicely planned for that The Civil Wars concert that couldn't go ahead in the Club (but now will again, in the Flex on Tuesday 13 November.) We couldn't wait quite that long for Oh Burgundy though so fortunately they'll be coming to support Rachael Yamagata now already.
