Groundation vocalist rootsreggae sideproject
Aside from the phenomenal Groundation (that appeared in a sold-out AB in April and early August at Esperanzah), Harrison Stafford fronts many other impressive projects too. You're probably already familiar with Rockamovya? And you must know about Professor !
It's not often that you get to hear such a resolutely reggae sound. Recorded in Kingston, Jamaica. But mainly inspired by and written on the 'West Bank' alias 'the West Bank of the Jordan River'.
The focus is on Israel and Palestine. Or rather: the conflict, the dividing line, centuries of history, pain and madness... That was what produced the first CD ‘Madness’. Bursting with good news and deep dub. At the end of August it should result in a second CD too.
Professor's original line-up certainly reads like one big reggae-legend: Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace (Rockers, Burning Spear), Flabba Holt (Roots Radics), Dalton Brownie (Augustus Pablo, Mutabaruka), Lloyd 'Obeah' Denton (Israel Vibration, Horace Andy). Plus extra assistance from Winston McAnuff, U-Roy, Bernard Collins (The Abyssinians) & Ashanti Roy (The Congos) for the recordings.
