Tripping along on a solid piece of Australian psych-rock!
“It's a winningly demented mix of ADHD garage rock, wonky psychedelica and massive, foot-on-monitor guitar riffs.” (Q MAGAZINE)
“Pond’s fifth album, Hobo Rocket, bristles with unrestrained creativity and sonic exploration!” (NME)
“ (HUMO)
A solid piece of Australian rock-‘n-roll! Pond, from Perth, travels the psychedelic road, just like compatriots Tame Impala, and they also just borrow a few members along the way - multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson and frontman Nick Allbrook (ex-Tame Impala since ’13). Pond rose to the top of the psychedelic pool in the slipstream of Tame Impala’s success and their last two albums – ‘Beard, Wives, Denim’ and latest issue ‘Hobo Rocket’ – released them from the shadow of their big brother entirely.
On that new album, they serve up a hypnotic mix of prog, Beatlesy psychedelica and indie-rock with a big wink toward bands like King Crimson and Yes! The Hobo Rocket had only just passed through atmosphere when the five Aussies were already prepared for a another new launch, ‘Man, It Feels Like Space Again’, on the Modular Recordings label of Cut Copy, Wolfmother, The Avalanches and Tame Impala (of course).
It'll be a great trip in AB, just in time for summer!
Yawns
