Brussels rap pioneer releases debut full-length album
Today, Pitcho is best known as an actor, writer, theatre-maker and director, who is very active in the Brussels theatre KVS, but he is also co-founder and artistic director of the Brussels hip-hop structure Skinfama. Less well known is his past as an emblematic figure of Brussels rap in the 1990s, with fans in Flanders and France, which was quite rare at the time. At the age of seven - having just fled Congo - he created his first collective Onde de Choc. Not much later, he stood out in rap battles, with his victory at the '98 Freestyle Battle at the Beursschouwburg as the highlight.
His first solo album Regarde Comment! came out in 2003. 20 years later, he returns to the hip-hop scene to play the album in its entirety once at the AB Club. On the occasion of this unique concert, a limited edition vinyl version will be released. The record is a tribute to all those who accompanied him to become the figure he is today.
The reissue of Regarde Comment! is the story of Pitcho. A multidisciplinary artist reconnecting with a past where every opportunity was a chance to surprise yourself and push your own limits.
This concert will be a return to basics: microphones, turntables and Boombap, accompanied by his faithful DJ Simon LeSaint (now musician with the likes of Stromae, Aya Nakamura...) and surprise guests.
