Interpol frontman goes solo.
Paul Banks is, as ever, the charismatic frontman from Interpol. He has already concealed himself behind alter-ego Julian Plenti in the past, now he's doing it under his own name. His latest solo album ‘Banks’ will be released later this year and was produced by good folk like Peter Katis, who we know from the likes of Interpol, The National, Shearwater and Jónsi.
What ‘Banks’ will sound like? We were able to note the following quote from out of Paul Banks' entourage: “The album is personal and epic, catchy and serpentine – much like your favorite Interpol albums – with Paul’s wry humor, bare emotion, and varied influences all in full effect.” We've already heard the album in avant-première and hailed it: “Heavenly! Interpol fans will certainly get what they want!.”
Opener is the six-piece indie rock band Willow. With roots in Leuven and Brussels, Willow like to explore the boundary between pop and experiment. At the latest edition of the MIAs, they were more than deserving winners of the best video award for their song ‘Sweater’. The band – often described as the Belgian Bloc Party – have previously supported the likes of Editors and will now do the same for contemporary and Interpol chief Paul Banks.
