WHAT
We know Brussellian keyboard player/composer Pak Yan Lau mainly from her band Going and from the many (improvisational) collaborations, with the likes of Lionel Malric, Chris Corsano and Dream Drone Orchestra. Pak Yan Lau will play together with Mette Rasmussen, a Danish saxophonist who lives in Norway and who has been active in various improvisational projects for many years now. Rasmussen gains her inspiration from free-jazz as well as structural sound creations. In the past she has worked with artists like Alan Silva, Chris Corsano, Ståle Liavik Solberg, and she formed the band ‘Trio Riot’ together with Sam Andreae and David Meier. In AB Salon they will present an improvisational set with prepared piano and sax.
The Few brings together three of the most dynamic string players from the latest generation of Chicago’s storied improvised music community – Macie Stewart (violin/voice), Charlie Kirchen (bass), Steve Marquette (guitar) – forming an improvising, acoustic trio that seamlessly blends their wide ranging influences into a singular whole. Early 2017 they released their debut lp Fragments of a Luxury Vessel on Marquette’s Two Cities Label.
In collaboration with Oorstof / Sound in Motion.
