Scandinavia is known worldwide as the European Metal pioneer. So it's no surprise then that this autumn the AB brings a number of top Metal bands from Sweden to Brussels. Following Meshuggah (15/9) and In Flames (7/10), on 26 November it will be Opeth's turn . Arrowhead of the Extreme or Death Metal scene in the early 90's, Opeth's ninth studio album 'Watershed' brings them once again a step closer to the ultimate combination of Death Metal with subtle, melodious and acoustic arrangements. Singer/guitarist/composer Mikael Akerfeldt, driving force behind Opeth, has been experimenting heavily with blues, jazz and progressive rock influences.
We'll be opening with The Ocean from Germany who put together a daring piece of drone-metal with ‘Precambrian’ (a double CD from Metal Blade). A raw hardcore approach to the genre, lined with the-sky-is-the-limit orchestrations, subtle electronica and wall-to-wall dynamism.
With Cynic from America, we then land in-between in completely prog mood. Their new album ‘Traced In Air’ will be released in October.
OPETH - Porcelain Heart
THE OCEAN - Queen of the Food Chain (live)
