Enchanting indietronica, like London Grammar & The xx!
Somewhere at the beginning of 2014, classically schooled multi-instrumentalists Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht – or Oh Wonder – devised the ambitious plan to write a song every month and launch it via SoundCloud. To be concluded with a full album release and a concert series.
And, oh so miraculously, the duo from London (that fits right in with London Grammar, The xx, (and closer to home: Hydrogen sea, Float Fall and I Will, I Swear) collected more than 25 million streams on both SoundCloud and Spotify in that period, and millions of views on YouTube. What’s more, their songs received airplay on pretty much every British radio station, they peaked in the charts of popular music blogs like Hype Machine, and all tickets for their very first tour of London, Paris, Los Angeles, New York – as well as our very own AB Club (5/11/’15) – were sold out in no time. That they are none the worse for this innovative approach would be a mega understatement!
Oh Wonder’s self-titled debut made it to Belgium on 4 September ’15, with the assistance of Caroline International, and the album harbours a complete set of flawless pop gems and enchanting indietronica.
