Steamroller touches the soul with black/post metal & shoegaze drenched ‘Rheia’

Oathbreaker’s third ‘Rheia’, with Jack Shirley (Deafheaven) behind the dials and again out on the excellent Deathwish, really is ‘a true game changer’ in the post-/black metal genre that Deafheaven, Wolves In The Throne Room, Cobalt and Liturgy (for ‘The Ark Work’ in ’15) also roam around in.

Aside Amenra, Raketkanon and Steak Number Eight, yet another extreme Belgian band that has made quite an impression outside our borders and of which we can be very damned proud!

Newmoon

Before the fans of effeminate leeches totally lose it, their name comes from Elliott Smith’s posthumous compilation album of the same album from ’07. The fans of post-punk, shoegaze, dream-pop and every genre in-between can now go wild though, because what Antwerp/Ghent’s Newmoon squeezes from the fenders on first issue ‘Space’ is something to get very worked up about.

Think Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division, The Jesus And Mary Chain and Dinosaur Jr. with a big fat DIY-attitude (the members formed hardcore/punk band Midnight Souls in a previous life). “They all play Fenders. They all have matching tattoos. They party harder than most.”
