Peaceful, heartwarming Israeli songstress
On October 3rd 2012, Noa lost her voice so she wasn’t able to perform on stage at AB. We had our hopes up for a new date in 2013. Unfortunately, due to various logistical reasons this will not happen. Therefore tickets will be refunded.
Please reply your AB confirmation mail from your e-ticket stating your account number. If you purchased normal tickets instead of e-tickets, please send them back with your bank account number to Ancienne Belgique, Anspachlaan 110, 1000 Brussel or visit our AB Ticketshop (Steenstraat 25, 1000) or the box office on concert evenings with ticket sales.
Born in Israel but with links to Yemen and New York. A striking, slender figure, now finally returns. With a new (7th?) international CD out too, here via Rough Trade: ‘Classic Noa’!
Noa is Achinoam Nini in full. She mainly sings fantastically in Hebrew or English. But the songs can sound Napolitan or Yemeni too. Beauty reigns! Also in her many collaborations with notable partners or larger orchestras. Like this time too, as actually this programme is titled: Noa with Gil Dor and the Solis String Quartet and special guest Mira Awad + Sarina.
Aside from singing, Noa also plays guitar, piano and percussion. She can always count on the input of permanent musical partner Gil Dor, although her CDs might also happen to be produced by a Pat Metheny or Rupert Hine.
She's already shared stages with Bobby McFerrin, Esther Ofarim, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Dalares, Santana, Maurane, Sheryl Crow... Up to and including Bill Clinton and the Pope! Her version of ‘Ave Maria’ was a heavenly hit.
But you're also sure to recognize Noa from her remarkable visit with Palestine's Mira Awad during the Eurovision Song Contest of 2009 (the 'more sober' trailer of which, below.)
What's possibly even more remarkable is her magnificent contribution to the soundtrack of that heartbreaking hit film La Vita è Bella: ‘Beautiful That Way’. That's the way it is: beautiful!
