Exquisite Brussels jazz double bill
NEXT.APE presents ‘The Fourth Wall’: album release
Brussels drummer/composer Antoine Pierre is definitely a key figure in the Belgian jazz scene. Think: TaxiWars (with Tom Barman) but also his own projects like URBEX, VAAGUE and NEXT.APE. In the latter, Antoine Pierre brings together European jazz musicians, such as Veronika Harcsa (vocals), Lorenzo Di Maio (guitar), Jérôme Klein (keyboard) and Cédric Raymond (keyboard, effects, guitar). Musically, Next.Ape flirts with trip-hop, electronica, jazz and rock. We read somewhere: “Next.Ape has shaped its sound: a slamming snare drum, a deep bass on the Moog, a distorted guitar, some profound keyboards and a clear and charismatic voice.”
GUILLAUME VIERSET | EDGES presents ‘The End Of The Fucking World’: album release.
Brussels guitarist and composer – who has gained recognition in the Belgian jazz scene over the past 10 years with his projects LG Jazz Collective and Harvest Group – gnaws away at the boundaries of jazz with his project EDGES. In the new line-up, Vierset accompanied by great musicians like Dorian Dumont (keyboard), Matteo Mazzu (bas) en Teun Verbruggen (drums). 'The End of The F***ing World' nods to progressive rock, post-rock and even King Crimson.
