'Topical Dancer’
Charlotte Adigéry is totally back and ready for the future with the announcement of album, ‘Topical Dancer’, that is to be released on March 4 via DEEWEE/Because and with new single ‘Blenda’ as foretaste. She and her musical partner in crime Bolis Pupul come to the stage of AB for a show around new tracks and all their compelling hits.
Exciting sound, mysterious lyrics and contrary rhythms … Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul aren’t to be pigeon-holed. With themes like exaggerated political correctness, racism and burgeoning sexuality, Adigéry and Pupul also dare to introduce inaccessible themes in their music and they succeed as no other in criticizing today’s society in their typical comic and ironic way. EP ‘Zandoli’ (2019) was partly an exploration of what it is to be woman of Caribbean descent growing up in Belgium. However, ‘Topical Dancer’, co-written by Soulwax, is a snapshot of how Charlotte and Bolis think about popular culture in the 2020s. With singles like ‘Paténipat’, ‘High Lights’, ‘Bear With Me’ and ‘Thank You’, the duo proves time and again that the recipe works. Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul are hot and ready for more.
