Great songs, no rules. It would have been the perfect title for Neeka's fourth album. Unfortunately the similarity with the slogan of a well-known brand of whisky was too great and meant that it wasn't to be. But to keep the same vibe: Neeka has ripened nicely again. She held onto producer John Morand (Sparklehorse, Jason Molina, Royal Trux) from the collaboration with Mint. The American had enough distance and expertise to give her new songs just the right packaging. That turned out to be the golden mean between the excellent albums 'Candy Comfort' (2002) and 'Women Wonderland' (2006). Sharper than the first, less complex than the second. An album that has folk and fine voices as a solid foundation and that dares to let loose every now and then. What is more, the times are on Neeka's side. As these days her thing is the 'in' thing.
Support: ECHO BEATTY- solo
Echo Beatty is a new idiosyncratic singer-songwriter talent. Together with her “beloved beards” (Jules Lemmens, Steven Holsbeeks, Mich Beniest and Jochem Baelus) she creates a unique fairy-tale world with bass, drums, banjo, vibraphone and all sorts of strange noises. But she's convincing solo too. Her songs are heart-breakingly beautiful and her warmly glowing voice and delicate guitar playing are a balsam for the soul. Not to be missed…
