Mogwai, one of the pioneers of the British underground scene
Mogwai, one of the founding fathers of the British underground scene, remains passionate, innovative and unstoppable. A few days ago, the Scottish band announced their return with a mysterious post on social media. The public did not have to wait long, because today it is clear what Mogwai has in store for us. Namely, they release a new single āGod Gets You Backā and in fact confirm a new tour in early 2025! You can see Mogwai live on 17 February at Ancienne Belgique.
Formed in Glasgow in 1995, Mogwai consists of Stuart Braithwaite (guitar and vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesiser, vocals), Dominic Aitchison (bass) and Martin Bulloch (drums). Since their debut album āYoung Teamā in 1997, the band has balanced between powerful and minimalist compositions, always looking for new instrumentations and technologies. Over the years, Mogwai have built up an impressive discography, which both commands admiration from fellow musicians and brings joy to their loyal fans. The Scots have now performed countless concerts and released ten studio albums. Their most recent album, 2021's āAs The Love Continuesā, was a huge success both commercially and critically. The album reached number one on the UK album chart, was nominated for the Mercury Prize and crowned Scottish album of the year. In Belgium, the album achieved a spot in the top 5 of the Ultratop and Mogwai played a sold-out concert in AB in 2022. Recently, the band worked in the studio on new songs that will be released soon. Come and discover Mogwai's new compositions live, along with their classics, on 17 February in AB.
