For fans of Grimes, Purity Ring and Twin Shadow!
"Pilgrim sounds like the halfway point between Purity Ring's vocal-fucked acrobatics and Twin Shadow's new-wave dreamscapes.” (Pitchfork)
“Electro music with guts. MØ sounds like a cross between Siouxsie Sioux and ’90s Janet Jackson.” (NME)
“The next Grimes” (The Guardian)
Gimme some MØ! Denmark's Karen Marie Ørsted nestled herself into the slipstream of electronic indie-pop acts like Grimes, Purity Ring and Austra with her first effort ‘Pilgrim’. At the crossroads of soul, electro, hip-hop and pop, she juggles trumpet samples, cut up vocals and dreamy synth-lines. Which, in the blogosphere, has yielded her references to Lykke Li, Santigold and even Siouxsie Sioux.
Following some tug-o-war between labels, RCA Victor (a part of Sony Music and homebase to the likes of David Bowie, Laura Mvula and Imogen Heap) was able to take in Ørsted with top single ‘Waste Of Time’ as first feat.
MØ is currently working on her debut with Ronni Vindahl (half of Danish producer-team No Wav that also handled Californian indie-pop duo Rhye). Ørsted's ‘scandinavian cool’ floats perfectly upon Vindahl’s warmly flushed, layered, and soulful sound. A unique mix which will rapidly shoot MØ into the upper echelons of pØp music.
