Chaos Angel
Maya Hawke is an artist who appeals to people of all generations. With her role as Robin in the popular Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’, she is no stranger to the young, with her melancholic folk with echoes of Feist, Mitski, Joni Mitchell and Patti Smith, she can certainly charm the more mature music fan too. The daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, the 26-year-old is therefore at the intersection of several creative lines. Her third studio album ‘Chaos Angel’ floats further on the dreamy folk-pop of ‘Blush’ (2020) and ‘Moss’ (2022), but with more mature insights and lyrical depth. She collaborated with Christian Lee Hutson (Phoebe Bridgers) and sound mixer Jonathan Low (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Tamino), so ‘Chaos Angel’ sounds full yet light, just as the duality in the title betrays. Above all, the record is a representation of how Maya grew more in her role as a songwriter, with her graceful voice guiding the flow along revelations, disillusionments and promises.
