Mark Eitzel is frontman of, and subsequently that tormented voice that we know from, American Music Club. The latter played a brilliant sold-out ABClub concert in February 2008. But back to Eitzel, who will be releasing a new solo CD in September (here via V2) and that must just about be his tenth solo effort. The most memorable in the row was, until now, ‘West’ in 1997, which he wrote together with R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck. Then on ‘Caught in a Trap and I Can't Back Out 'Cause I Love You Too Much, Baby’ in 1998 he was assisted by Steve Shelley from Sonic Youth and James McNew from Yo La Tengo. Mark Eitzel will share the stage live with pianist Marc Capelle (American Music Club member from 2003 to 2006).
