The legendary Marianne Faithfull, now more popular than ever as chansonière. Her voice is an exceptional instrument. But we've known that already since the phenomenal comeback CD in '81, containing the likes of 'The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan'. Gone was the teenage star who had shared everything with The Rolling Stones, gone also were hits like 'As Tears Go By'. From then on a wise woman appears instead, one who has seen something of life.
We can hear it too, like again now on the compelling 'Easy Come, Easy Go' CD (on the Naïve label). Covers of Dolly Parton, Duke Ellington, Brian Eno, Randy Newman, Merle Haggard... and on CD enjoying the collaboration of Antony, Rufus Wainwright, Nick Cave, Teddy Thompson, Sean Lennon, Keith Richards, and especially producer Hal Willner (also known for his Strange Weather production, with Ms Faithfull, and his Kurt Weill project).
For this live concert we expect: Rory MacFarlane: upright & electric bass; Roger Eno: piano & keys; Leo Abraham: guitars; Kate St John: oboe, cor anglais, sax, accordion & piano; Jack Pinter: clarinet, bass clarinet, saxes, flute & bass flute; David Coulter: saw, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, baritone ukulele, Jew's harps & percussion & Martyn Baker: drums. Certainly many fine folks on stage. Now you too, as loyal Faithfull-fan!?
