Hopefully, you already know Maria Timm from her fine visit to De Laatste Show, and that evening she also made her appearance at Studio Brussel with, under her arm, the wonderful hit ‘Dirty Place’. In early January there will be a new single entitled ‘To The Top Up Up Up’ from her debut ‘The Plan’. That debut is crammed with perfect pop, but with a raw edge, and borne by pure feminine power. Her bio is precise - euh – even more precise: ‘This is Updated 80's new romanticism with smart electronics and Scandinavian drama. Think a ballsy The Knife meets The Rapture with female vocals’.
Support act will be Brussels’ Teme Tan. Although still relatively unknown, they still managed to seize second place at the most recent Kampioenschap van Brussel, and in Le Botanique they shared a stage with Miike Snow. The 6-track debut EP reveals diverse influences such as soul, folk, pop, abstract hip-hop, tropicalia and blues. Those who want actual references may make a virtual mishmash of Gorillaz, Radiohead, Animal Collective, Metronomy, -M- and Grizzly Bear. Keep and eye on this guy!
