A message from Los Lobos: Due to a family illness, Los Lobos' Cesar Rosas will not be with the band for their upcoming European dates. Cesar is grateful for the support during this very difficult time, and the guys are very much looking forward to what are sure to be a run of incredible shows. See you soon!
'Will The Wolf Survive?' Well, at the time, that song was our first encounter and now we're certain: Los Lobos are survivors! L.A.'s Chicano roots-rock pride for more than 35 years now! A solid group of five audacious musicians from Los Angeles (and the legendary Steve Berlin has been amongst the members for long enough now too.)
You know Los Lobos from 'La Bamba', of course, but hopefully also from albums like 'Kiko' and 'La Pistola Y El Corazon'. Or you could compare them with Ry Cooder's recent American Mexican repertoire. Los Lobos are just as surprisingly diverse in their musical show: folklore as well as staunch rock or fiery funk up to and including sensational soundscape trips. Always spot on, and usually all those genres are presented in the space of just one CD or concert. So too on their latest masterpieces 'Good Morning Aztlan' and 'The Town And The City'... at which time we would like to once more take up the thread of DE STANDAARD: 'de groep kiest voor melancholie en voor broeierige, rauwe americana....' or MAD Le Soir: '...une trajectoire impeccable en brassant rock, tex-mex, r'n'b, traditionnels mexicains ou morceaux plus expérimentaux... excelle dans tous les genres...'
Of course we also expect that musical abundance on the new CD to be released in the spring of 2010 (apparently with yet another entertaining snack to keep us going this year: 'Los Lobos Goes Disney!') But especially: you're sure to totally loosen up to Los Lobos once more (and we're also curious which appealing cover they'll be closing their set with this time?)
Solid support act will be Fred Lani & Superslinger. Previously Fred & The Healers, thus not unknown in the AB. Now proudly present with new CD 'Second Life' and an extremely modern blues sound. Let's also take advantage of the opportunity to mention that Los Lobos' new 'Tin Can Trust' CD must be just about ready now too.
