Coca-Cola Sessions
2 sets of Raw Rock ‘n Roll (with capitals) from local soil
Barely a year and a half after their fierce debut and having gained tons of experience live, crazy noise-pop duo Little Trouble Kids now delivers a new album (out in early February 2012): 'Adventureland'. The live-energy is just as intense, the line-up is unchanged – one guitar, one stomp box and two harmonious voices – but the sound and songs are grander, harder and better. The band has taken the leap to larger halls and festivals in Belgium and The Netherlands in no time at all. Under the influence of producer Micha Volders (Vermin Twins) they've managed to make the very most of their alternative percussion and raw minimalism. 'Adventureland' is a dark and at the same time charming universe with dead honest songs, raging riffs and overwhelming rhythms.
‘Flipped garage rock: deliciously dirty, common and infectious.’ (Studio Brussel) ‘Thank God music can be a little trashy again! Little Trouble Kids combines the subversive aspect of the rockabilly twins Collins Kids with the quirky folly of Danielson Famile.’ (KindaMuzik) ‘Just as catchy as the equally rebellious Moldy Peaches.’ (Oor)
We'll be opening with Sista Flex. The band recently released its first EP ‘Wild & Outrageous’ on the Nu Music & Image label. This EP is a solid rock album with an idiosyncratic edge.
The raw vocals and drums of Sista Flex (the alter-ego of Anouk Verheyen) are accompanied by Andy Permentier's tough bass and ‘daddy’ Jan Verheyen's bluesy guitar riffs. Were picked up by Dutch columnist Nico Dijkshoorn who praised them a page long in HUMO, after which they were promptly invited to appear in De Wereld Draait Door on Nederland 3.
We've presented a number of much talked-about Coca-Cola Sessions over the last 2 concert seasons, with sold-out concerts by Customs, Balthazar, The Tellers, Addicted Kru Sound feat. Selah Sue and Intergalactic Lovers. In early 2012 the likes of Superlijm, JFJ and these Little Trouble Kids and Sista Flex get their turn.
