Warning: Smoking Ban inspection during Little Dragon on Sunday 15 May 2011
Since 1 January 2006 it has no longer been permitted to smoke in public places, so not in AB either. After consultation between AB and the Federal Department of Public Health, Food-Chain Safety and the Environment, there will be a number of inspections carried out in the AB over the coming months by the Public Health department.
The next inspection will be on the during the Little Dragon Concert on Sunday May 15th 2011.
James Blake is currently raising eyebrows with his version of Feist's ‘Limit To Your Love’. Rightly so too. But those who take another listen to ‘Twice’ from Sweden's Little Dragon will get just as many goosebumps. That fantastic song is to be found on the untitled debut (2007) with which they visited the AB as opener for José Gonzàlez. Three years and 1 album later (‘Machine Dreams’ from 2009) this electronica-pop-outfit centred around Swedish-Japanese singer Yukimi Nagano has toured the world as part of the Gorillaz ‘Escape To Plastic Beach’ tour. Logical really, as Nagano and her Little Dragon companions Fredrik Källgren Wallin and Håkan Wirenstrand co-wrote the Gorillaz tracks ‘Empire Ants’ and ‘To Binge’. This spring Little Dragon will release a third studio album and we're just as curious as you are about the result. A first live inspection in the ABClub on Sunday 15 May.
Thus:Owls stems from the brain of Swede Erika Angell. A successor to debut ‘Cardiac Malformations’ is to follow in late 2011, one which was recorded in a castle near Paris. She and the Swedish and Canadian musicians in her band earned their stripes with acts like Koop, Loney Dear and Patrick Watson. Erika seeks experiment with Thus:Owls, while her tremendous voice still claims all the attention. ‘They play playfully but also threateningly, theatrically. They put on a show that stands like a house and that the whole house falls for’. (VPRO 3voor12)
