Dolly, Gillian, Wanda & now Lindi? With band!
Solo in the ABClub in the fall of 2011. What was immediately loud and clear? La Ortega is without equal: a very vibrant figure, a pure-bred performer with an unbelievable voice who also stands strongly and elegantly on her own two feet! This solo visit was a fine introduction. But we want more, more specifically of that glorious, full sound from her CD 'Little Red Boots'. So hereby, in the wake of an expanding French tour: the speedy return of Lindi Ortega, this time with a BAND!
Should we again provide this promotional text for the Lindi-laypersons !?
Lindi Ortega! A new name. A solid voice. A great talent. 'Little Red Boots' is the name of her 'American' debut CD (now out here via Rough Trade, following up The Drifter, a first EP from 2009.)
'Little Red Boots' is a refreshing, effervescent and kicking CD. Clearly no mass production but rather, as the SF Examiner says: 'She’s got the down-home trill of early Dolly Parton, the rockabilly wallop of vintage Wanda Jackson and the rustic lyrical outlook of prime Gillian Welch.' Even more hot swank at www.sfexaminer.com
Lindi Ortega has Mexican and Irish roots, lives in Toronto, Canada, and would seem to be rather mad about Frida Kahlo and Johnny Cash (or does sporadic things like 'backings' for eg: Brandon 'Killers' Flowers.)
Her 'Little Red Boots' bring her back to the ABClub with a band on this Sunday evening.
Support-act will be Marco Z, with his band! Once winner of Het Groot Geweld, now prominent on the radio with his, euh, volatile hit single 'I'm a bird'. Now has a deal with Universal and soon to release the CD 'The ordinary life of Marco Z'. 'Ooh the times I've wasted’? Let's head into the future (and the ABClub)!
