Fresh, cheerful American folk-rock from their West Coast. Laura Veirs was rather late to sell her professional soul to music. She first studied Chinese and Geology, amongst other things. The influence of those broader interests and circles also seeped into the likes of 'Galaxies', an earlier single, or previous CD titles like 'Year Of The Meteors', 'Carbon Glacier', 'Saltbreakers', 'Troubled By The Fire'...
So it came that she's now onto her 7th album since 1999: 'July Flame' (on Bella Union via V2). Apparently this time the main source of inspiration was a type of pear. That promises to be tasty!
Laura Veirs now finally returns to the ABClub too, following her first visit in September 2005. Furthermore, it will actually be: Laura Veirs & Band. That means that her musicians will again just happen to provide 2 extra support acts, namely as Old Believers and as Cataldo! 1 Laura Veirs + 2 acts = you're sure to spring to attention thrice!
