Colombian party music Brussels style!
This concert is soldout, there are some tickets available for the La Chiva Gantiva concert on 27 march at Botanique.
The quick-tempered La Chiva Gantiva has Colombian roots and a homebase in Brussels. Colombian party-music Brussels-style! That slogan still hails from De Standaard at the release of first CD 'Pelao' in 2011. One which already yielded a stunning Jazz marathon and a full ABClub at the time.
In the meantime they've been touring in the US, the UK, Australia, all over Europe, the best festivals à la Couleur Café, even in Colombia (!) and The Times apparently also made mention of: 'frenetic carnival-punk racket that detonates like a Molotov cocktail of rock, rap, soul and ferociously funky Latin rhythms.'
The new, second CD 'Vivo', produced by Joel Hamilton (see too: Sparklehorse, Marc Ribot, Bomba Estereo...), will be out in early 2014, on the alert Crammed label again, of course.
Special too: the recording took place in their very own studio above a famous Brussels establishment. No, not the ABCafé, but you're not far off (see the Apretao clip below...).
We eagerly repeat: with their extra tambore, alegre, llamador and maracones they are sure to get you back onto the champeta, chirimia and mapalé!
