A double-bill with two revelations: Zahra Hindi and Krystle Warren!
You probably know Krystle Warren from her plucky support-act to Rodrigo & Gabriela? An inspired black songstress with a strongly supporting guitar and, indeed, you may briefly think of Tracy Chapman. Ms Warren works in New York on her tasty mix of folk, jazz, soul… She's apparently already delivered 'The Up Series', a first EP, and the first CD will be 'Circles', out here by February?
Zahra Hindi sounds like a musical cross between Django Rheinhardt and Billie Holiday (with sufficient contemporary influences.) Are these references too strong? There's no CD in stores yet ... but of course there's already plenty of fine listening pleasure at www.myspace.com... or as we also read there: 'ancestral blues tribute to tribal'. With Toeareg-roots and a home in Paris, but especially with a very intriguing, international sound.
