Kofi Stone Connects ’90s New York Boom-Bap & UK Rap
Inspired by the poetry of his grandfather, rapper Kofi Stone began freestyling and writing his own lyrics at a young age. A musical diet of Lupe Fiasco, Common, Kano and Sway further fuelled his fascination for hip-hop.
In 2017, he released his debut single Stories In Pyjamas, soon followed by Nothin' Ain't Free, with which he made a name in the rap scene. His debut project Nobody Cares Till Everybody Does was released independently via his Tru Community label. Since then, Kofi has toured with Loyle Carner, performed at festivals worldwide, and collaborated with artists like Jacob Banks, Mr Jukes & Barney Artist and Tiana Major9.
Stone is known as an engaging storyteller with an introspective, deep and sincere hip-hop style. You can hear that on his latest single Black Joy. He harks back to the golden age of hip-hop and celebrates blackness amidst adversity.
Nothin' Ain't Free but a ticket for his show is well worth your money!
