Due to events beyond our control, Karen Elson and her band are postponing their previously scheduled European shows that were due to start this Sunday. The trip was in support of the release of Karen's debut album The Ghost Who Walks which is out May 24/25, and would have included performances in Berlin, Brussels, Paris, London, Manchester and Glasgow.
These shows will be rescheduled at a later date and refunds for tickets bought will be provided at point of purchase. The band's dates in North America in June have not been affected. Thanks for your support and apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused.
Her name doesn't immediately ring a bell in musical circles. However, in fashion circles, Karen Elson is a big name. In the past she's worked with famous fashion designers like Marc Jacobs, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Chanel. She's also adorned the much-desired covers of the likes of Vogue, Dazed & Confused and Elle. Her link with musical circles? The White Stripes, for whom she appeared in the âBlue Orchidâ clip and soon after meant somewhat more... namely, she became Mrs Jack White. Her intriguing voice could already be heard in her cabaret clique, The Citizens Band, and aside both Robert Plant and Cat Power (with whom she covered a Gainsbourg song). In May, her debut âThe Ghost Who Walksâ will be released â produced by dear husband Jack White â which shifts between traditional folk, country & blues and a touch of drama. The fantastic single of the same name certainly already presents a Karen Elson in top form. We've already seen Mrs White at work at the showcase festival SXSW in Texas and will just quote our reporter on the spot: âWhat a beautiful voice and how stylish!â
Be there on time for Karen Elson's Belgian premiere (with members of The Dead Weather and My Morning Jacket in her backing band) in the intimate ABClub, there where dear husband Jack White also made his Belgian debut in 2001 with The White Stripes.
