7:00 pm - SOUNDTRACK BY ... BL13P DJ
8:30 pm - G.H. (uk)
G.H. are the initials of Gaz Howell, who moves in the same circles as Demdike Stare. Not only musically, as he also shares the band Pendle Coven with Miles Whittaker of Demdike Stare. G.H.'s first feat is the 12”'Ground E.P' that was released on the intriguing Modern Love label, and that instantly blew our socks off. An EP full of deep, dark and quasi imperceptible subsonic basslines that slowly bounce forth and are pretty much unfathomable. Musical points of reference are Mika Vainio, Andy Stott, as well as Raime. For G.H. it's his first set on Belgian soil.
9:30 pm - Gang Colours (uk)
Gang Colours is the latest acquisistion by the Brownswood label of famous radio DJ Gilles Peterson. His debut ‘The Keychain Collection’ was immediately well acclaimed. Laurie Anderson on it: "the production is amazing." Humo: “Will Ozanne alias Gang Colours uses computers as well as machines, but then in the manner of James Blake or Nicolas Jaar: in order to compile pieces of raw sorrow or melancholy into thrilling tracks. His piano parts remind one of the patois of Craig Armstrong, and his whispery beats and yellowed synth parts of Boards of Canada and Bibio.” Thank you Humo, for the substantial quote. Just like G.H., Gang Colours is here in Belgium for the first time.
10:30 pm Kangding Ray
Kangding Ray is the alter-ego of Frenchman David Letellier, who has been living in Berlin for some time now. He now has three albums to his CV, all characterized by a mix of warm and melodic – if minimal – electronica with guitar loops, basslines and acoustic instruments. His latest album – again released via the classy Raster_Noton – is entitled ‘Or’ (‘gold’) and is quite simply one of the most impressive electronica albums of the past year. Kangding Ray will perform as a duo.
