Julia Reidy is a Berlin-based Australian experimental fingerpicking guitarist/composer. After several releases on Editions Mego, in 2022 she released her acclaimed album ‘World In World’ on Oren Ambarchi’s Black Truffle label. This ‘bedroom recording’-ish album contains solo guitar compositions that remind one of the work of Loren Conners (‘Airs’) or Roy Montgommery (‘Scenes from the South Island’). For the recording of the album, Reidy asked instrument builder Sukandar Kartadinata to work on a unique guitar with moveable frets that make it possible to tune the instrument in ‘just intonation’. Add to this the manipulations by a series of pedals and laptop and you get a unique sounding album that undoubtedly deserves its place in the canon of guitar-based classic albums.
