Great atmospheric voice with strong feminist songs
Juke Boxes
Juke Boxes, that's Juliette & Kevin.
It was in 2010 that these two multi-instrumentalists first dived into a studio together for few months, to record an album.
They took every step of the recording together. They composed the songs and played all the instruments that are to be heard on the album and also mixed the recording.
During the recording process they decided to refine the new titles on stage and they criss-crossed European cities.
Juliette, sings, plays keyboard and guitar. She swims the same waters as Cat Power and Beth Gibbons. Her melodies are strong, her lyrics militant and feminist.
Kevin, on drums, impresses with his stage presence. He's bursting with energy and juggles between drums, keyboards and vocals.
The use use of synths, machines and the associated sound effects gained further form during the live shows. The sound is surprising and cinematographic. Their live set is sometimes explosive and at other times gentle, and carries the listener away to divergent worlds.
Juliette and Kevin are accompanied on stage by two extra musicians. They received the task of playing their instruments in an unconventional manner to preserve and strengthen Juke Boxes characteristic sound.
Their new album “King Dying” will be out on 01/03/2013.
Joy
Joy is looking for "Joy"...
She was the lead-singer of 8-member band "TEN SIXTY, 1060". Now proceeding on her own.
It takes her right back to the beginning, in 2003, when she first managed to charm a venue on her own with her velvety voice.
Ten years, and just as much stage experience, later and she's not lost any simplicity or authenticity.
She now writes her own songs and her lyrics are inspired by everyday life.
