The 26-year-old singer from New Zealand grabbed attention three years ago with his self-released album ‘Cloak’. His timeless, warm, soulful, jazz/hip-hop sound brought him to London, where he got to know the UK jazz scene and would work with the likes of Richard Spaven and Loyle Carner. A year later, he signed to the legendary Ninja Tune-label that released his second album ‘Wallflower’ in 2017. An album that was warmly received by the likes of The FADER, Evening Standard and MixMag. What’s more, he made second place for ‘Album of the Year’ in Gilles Petersons annual Worldwide Awards. In Belgium he was picked up by LeFtO and made an impression with visits to the likes of HORST & Pukkelpop and in De Vooruit & Het Depot.

On June 14 this year, the singer and multi-instrumentalist will release his third album, via Ninja Tunes. ‘Origin’ is inspired by a dystopian vision of our future, think: Charlie Brooker’s ‘Black Mirror’, Margaret Atwoord’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’. The singer takes a critical view of technological growth and how it influences us as people. ‘I’m worried that we’re losing connection’.
