folk, in the rich UK tradition of Fairport & Sons (sic)
Johnny Flynn has already visited once before, in 2010, as support-act to Mumford & Sons in a jam-packed, surging concert hall.
A very valued ex-colleague declared at the time: 'He cites musical influences as diverse as John Fahey and The Pixies but loves Yeats and Shakespeare nonetheless, as he spends the other half of his time on the stage of a theatre.
For the trivia-hunters among you: Flynn studied at the Bedales School where he shared school benches with Lily Allen, Luke Pritchard of The Kooks and Patrick Wolf. Debut ‘A Larum’ was received well in his homeland, with 4 stars from Q and Mojo magazines.'
Has now produced his third CD: 'Country Mile', here via Pias, and it's high time for his own ABClub after, by the way, also having filled a Bota Rotonde.
Fine folk, for those who are also keen on that impressive British heritage that has been so well-cherished by countless generations. From many oldies, via Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull to the current Mumford & Sons, Noah & The Whale, Laura Marling, Sam Lee... Plus all manner of new names that also turn up in the equally sound British fRoots magazine: www.frootsmag.com
Support-act will be the entirely unique Cosmo Sheldrake: a British DIY-er, singer, musician with global roots. Cosmopolitan electro-folk from a 'Genuinely Great British Eccentric.'
